2. PROGRAMMES OF THE NETHERLANDS

Moldova is one of 36 partner countries that receive Official Development Assistance (ODA) from the Netherlands within a long term bilateral co-operation framework. Most of the aid is provided through Non Governmental Organisations (NGO’s).

The Netherlands Embassy in Kiev has three assistance programs:
- Good Governance
- Small Embassy Projects in the field of Poverty Reduction;
- World Bank Health Investment Fund.

2.1 Good Governance

The Embassy has an annual budget of around EUR 2 400 000 to promote good governance, intended for projects that support the Moldovan government to get and stay on track with the International Financial Institutions, i.e. the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund. So far, the Embassay has supported two projects, which are being implemented by the Ministry of Finance and the IMF. For an overview of ongoing projects, please click here. For an example of a project outline, please click here.

Until recently, the Embassy provided assistance to NGO’s and international organisations in the field of Good Governance. For an overview of recent and ongoing projects under that programme, please click here. NGO's which are interested in new project proposals, are referred to the chapter on Matra, an existing program which has recently opened for Moldova.

2.2  Small Embassy Projects in the field of poverty reduction

The Small Embassy Fund (PKP+) of EUR 50 000 per year is intended for small-scale projects that are directly aimed at relieving poverty. Projects in many different fields have been supported, including health care, disabled people, employment, life skills, drinking water and others. NGO’s that wish to apply for funds, are requested to send a project proposal in the English language to the Royal Netherlands Embassy in Kiev. For an overview of recent and ongoing projects, please click here. For an example of a project outline, please click here.

2.3  World Bank Health Investment Fund

The Embassy supports the long-term efforts of the Moldovan Government to improve the health care system. For an overview of this project, please click here.
